It has been a quiet week. We
did not receive any rainfall and river conditions continued to be in ideal
conditions. We had some warm weather and water temperatures on some rivers are
a little warm.
Tricos are still going all up
and down the Oatka creek. This is a size 20 mayfly; the timing of the hatch is
in the morning. You will want to be on the water around 7 AM, Depending on air
temperatures that day the hatch will around up sometime between mid to late
morning. The rivers that have an Isonychia hatch are now going on. This hitch
trickles off throughout the day. You do not always see a lot of bugs around
but, the fish are looking for the bugs.
That is about all that is going
on at this time with the trout fishing. There is a lout of good fishing going
on and some great fish to be caught. This is a slow time of the year. The next
upcoming event is the start of the tributary season. We are only a few weeks
away from the start of the salmon run. Time to get ready for fall. Flies need
to be tied, gear need to be dusted off and prepared. Anyone that needs to get
the rust out of there spey casting, I will be offering two casting clinics this
fall.
Date for the casting clinic are
Clinic 1; September 3
Saturday, starting time 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Meet at Pineville fishing excess parking Clinic 2; October 5 Saturday,
